Contact Lens Fittings

Fitting of Contact Lenses can be a fun and convenient alternative to wearing glasses. Depending on your prescription and your activities & hobbies, we will make recommendations on which contact lenses will work best for you. Our eye doctors have many years of experience with fitting a variety of contact lenses, including:

  • Soft Disposables and Planned Replacement lenses.
  • Rigid Gas-Permeable (RGP) lenses.
  • Astigmatism-Correcting lenses.
  • Multi-focal & Bifocal lenses.
  • Cosmetic & Color-Enhancing lenses.
  • Special Effects lenses.

We have also been very successful in fitting people who require specialty contact lenses. With new developments in contact lens technology, we're able to fit a wide range of new contact lens patients as well as patients who no longer wear contacts due to poor comfort, inadequate vision, or dryness.

The contact lens industry has developed a new lens material called silicone hydrogels that provides increased transmission of oxygen to the eyes, resulting in healthier eyes with better comfort and vision throughout the day. Since these new lenses provide more oxygen to the eyes, patients now have the option of daily wear or extended wear.

We stock a wide selection of contact lenses from the highest quality makers at competitive prices. You can get professionally fitted with lenses that truly fit your eyes and needs and pick up your supply from our offices. Items not in stock can be delivered straight to your home, as long as you've been dispensed the item before. We are especially proud of our contact lens selection as well as our exceptional ability to fit all types of contact lenses available.

We are experts in fitting difficult cases and in fitting the various types of gas-permeable contact lenses that are available today. These lenses are much more difficult to fit and require a large amount of experience.

We also specialize in fitting lenses for irregular corneas, astigmatism correction and keratoconus.

Corneal Molding

These are special lenses that are worn at night that reshape the cornea so that when removed in the morning the patient frequently does not need to use any eyeglasses or contact lenses during the day.

We have the ability to fit contact lenses on corneas that have been surgically altered after corneal transplant surgery. The lenses needed to address this problem are specialty lenses and come in a variety of shapes and sizes.

Contact Lenses for Children

Parents often ask us if contact lenses are appropriate for children. Contact lenses can be successfully fit to children of all ages, even infants over six months. When children are very young, the parents need to be fully involved in the day-to-day care and handling of the contact lenses. As children age, they can more fully participate in the contact lens care.

Most prescriptions can be made in contact lenses, which can be great for general wear as well as for sports.  Some new research shows that certain types of contact lenses can slow down the development of myopia. This can be especially useful in children who have a family history of myopia.
