What is Bacterial Keratitis?
This condition occurs when bacteria infect the cornea, the clear covering over the front of the colored portion of the eyeball.

What should I look for?
- Pain and sensitivity to light; blurred or hazy vision.
- Watery and bloodshot eyes, thick discharge, and a feeling as though there is something in the eye.
Causes of Bacterial Keratitis
What causes it?
- Bacterial infections.
- Contact lenses to be the main risk factor, especially if the lenses are fitted improperly, worn longer than the approved wear schedule, or cause an allergic reaction to silicone.
Treatment
Why treat it?
- To relieve symptoms and discomfort.
- To prevent complications such as damage to the surface of the eye, inner-eye infection, and weakened vision.
